Hello,

Thank you for viewing my Photography Galleries. My name is Michael L. Nelson, and I have been taking photographs for more that 20 years. I developed a love for photography with the birth of my oldest son in 1984. I originally used 35mm film cameras, but I made the switch to digital and I now use Nikon digital equipment. The newer editing technology and the ability to see your images immediately has given me an even deeper love for photography. I enjoy photographing corporate and private events, weddings, senior portraits, family, and pet portraits, as well as many personal interests, such as landscapes and travel.

To me photography has always been like 'Magic'. It still amazes me that I can actually freeze a moment in time, capture the emotion, and produce an image that will be shared and enjoyed over and over again. I truly believe that it is important for everyone to hold on to those special moments in their lives, and let's face it; there is no better way to celebrate and remember life than with photos.

In addition to my years of practical experience I also have technical training. I am a graduate of Samford University where I earned my SAS Certificate of Photography. I have taken additional photography courses at the Birmingham School of Photography and Bessemer Technical College as well as attending many Professional Training Seminars. Some of the courses I have completed include Nikon Digital, Wedding and Bridal Photography, Studio and Portrait lighting, Photoshop editing, Photoshop Elements, Digital Printing, and other photographic classes.

I also enjoy teaching photography. Currently I am a Photography Instructor at Samford University for the Samford After Sundown Program. Prior to joining the staff at Samford I was an Instructor for the Southern Institute of Photography located at The Birmingham Botanical Gardens.
